Data Punk Updates

Quick update on some key activities and an ask for your feedback.
Data Punk Updates

Hey Data Punks!

I hope you're all enjoying the games this weekend and are tracking the trades – Trouba out and Shesterkin signing 8 years at 92M, what??

Anyway, we have a few things going on so I thought a quick update would be good for you all.

Next Up on Data Punk Hockey?

The DPH goal is to focus on hockey and hockey analytics. So, our next series will focus on the 4 Nations Face Off, scheduled for mid February. In this series, we'll do a deep dive on the rosters and analyze the teams and matchups to predict the winners and losers. It should be a fun and timely series, which we'll wrap up before the start of the international tournament.

We'll start our publishing of the series next Sunday, 12/15/24, and we'll include both newsletter coverage and videos on YouTube.

Introductory Sports Analytics Course

We recently started working on a Sports Analytics course entitled Introduction to Sports Analytics. The course will include 15 modules (theory and practicum) and cover topics like data types, statistics, modeling, tools and programming languages, visualizing data, data storytelling, machine learning and AI, and careers in sports analytics. (Note that the course will have coverage on hockey and other sports as well, such as basketball, soccer, etc.) We're targeting early March to have the course complete and published online.

👥
We've recruited a small focus group to get early access to the content, in exchange for feedback. If you'd like to be a part of this Beta group, shoot me an email.

Data Punk Media - Sports Content Creation

We've created a sister property to Data Punk Hockey called Data Punk Media. The idea behind DPM is using Data, AI and Design for data storytelling and content creation, and in late February we'll be deploying our first set of commercial offerings. With these offerings, our goal is to democratize analytics for content creators (specifically focusing on sports content creators). The team is super busy preparing, but given you're a part of the DPH community you'll have the opportunity to join both – as some of you already have. For those that have, you should see increased activity on DPM in late January.

👥
For DPM, we'll also recruit a small focus group to get early access to the offerings in exchange for feedback. So, again, if you'd like to be a part of this Beta group, shoot me an email.

Take 2 Minutes and Give Us Your Feedback

Lastly, we'd like to get your feedback on areas of coverage you'd like to see us focus on. I want this experience to be about this community, so we can build it from your needs and what excites you about the subject area.

To help us, take 2 minutes and complete this survey.

Thanks and have a fantastic week!
